Christmas Tour 2013

December 23, 2013

Merry Christmas Eve Eve! :)

I'm a little late this year, but here's a quick Christmas tour.

House Tour is Up!

December 2, 2013

Hi Lovely Readers!

Just stopping in to share that the House Tour page is finally ready {http://www.glitterandgrits.com/p/house-tour.html}. I'll definitely be around here more now that we're getting settled in. Hard to believe we've been in the house a month already!

Hope everyone had a fab Thanksgiving!

Target Love

October 22, 2013

Can I just say how much I love the Threshold line at Target? I took a few pics on my last visit of what caught my eye. That set of sunburst mirrors might be coming home with me in the near future. I also love that wooden tray & cocktail shaker....clearly inspired by this.

Have a great night!

Charleston Cheese Dip

October 19, 2013

Here's a new recipe that's perfect for football season, Charleston Cheese Dip! I found this on Food Network and tweaked it just a tiny bit. I usually double this recipe for crowds larger than 5-6 people. It's super easy, and always a big hit!

Charleston Cheese Dip, adapted slightly from Food Network

Ingredients:
1/2 cup mayo
One 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack
1 packet dry ranch dressing mix
Dash garlic powder
Dash black pepper
8 Ritz Crackers, crushed
8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
Corn chips or bagel chips for serving

Preheat oven to 350.

In a bowl, mix mayo, softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, monterey jack cheese, ranch mix, garlic powder and black pepper. Transfer the mixture to a shallow baking dish. Top the mixture w/ cracker crumbs and bake for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, cook and crumble the bacon slices.

Remove dip from oven and immediately top w/ crumbled bacon. Serve w/ corn chips or bagel chips.

Flooring & Fixtures

October 13, 2013

We walked through the house today and we had tile, wood floors, AND fixtures! I forgot to take any pics of the tile, but snapped a few of the rest of the progress. 18 days until closing!

I Might Have a Problem...

October 9, 2013

...but the first step is admitting it, right? The ram is my newest find from CB2, the skull was locally found at Rescued Junk in Earlham, and the cow head is from Decor Steals. B has staked his claim on the skull for the man cave, but I have big plans for my girls Goldie and Bessie in the new house.

What, you don't name your faux animal heads? :)

Have a great night!

App Love: Rhonna Designs

October 2, 2013

Tonight I wanted to share one of my *FAVE* new apps, Rhonna Designs! There are so many filters, frames, fonts and cuteness in general to choose from. I really love the scrapbook quality of the edits. The website for Rhonna Designs also has tons of great printables and design ideas. I shared a few pics below that I've made over using the app...not surprisingly 2 out of 3 involve my dog :)

Have a great night and happy photo editing!

A Peek Inside

September 23, 2013

Things are moving right along at the new house! We had stone go up last week; all that's left on the front is the porch roof and the white craftsman columns. Trim carpentry has also begun inside, so I snapped a few pics of the progress. I apologize for the quality, these were all taken on my iPhone.

Life Update

September 16, 2013

Hey There!

Long time, no talk. :)

Things have been pretty busy around here, thus the lack of updates. Here's a quick update on life in our household!

We celebrated our 1st anniversary and B's 30th birthday in May. I planned a surprise trip out to Denver for his birthday and we had such a great time catching up with friends.

We also listed our townhome for sale in March, and it sold in July. It was bittersweet for us since that was our first home together, and we did really love it!

Currently we are finishing up on construction of our new house! It has been fun/exciting/stressful/crazy all at the same time. We started with this back in May...

And now we are here...

The plan is to close by the end of October at the latest, but hopefully it will be a little sooner. It's been so fun to watch all the details coming together that we picked out (everything from the roof shingles to siding to countertops). Please forgive me if house-related things make up the majority of my posts for a while. :)

Hopefully you also noticed that the blog had a little design refresh. I'm super excited about how it turned out so I hope you like it too. I think it will make navigating around a little easier AND prettier to look at. Stay tuned for a fun "welcome back" giveaway coming up later this week!
